dawalsh 919 Posted June 19, 2013 Hi dawalsh I live near Galway a beautiful part of the country. There was a few ways to get the lap band done here the public system which would be free has a waiting list if about 5 years. ( in which you could have a lot more problems before surgery date comes around) 2nd the people who are insured can also get it done in private hospitals if they meet certain criteria. Then there is the private clinic in which you pay yourself this is what I did at a cost of 7500 which includes a full year of refills and check ups. Wow, a 5 year wait through the public system. I'm afraid that will be in America as well as our healthcare system is changing through what we call "Obamacare". Anyway, I appreciate self pay as my daughter just had gastric sleeve surgery yesterday. She was also self pay. In San Antonio, TX it was pretty reasonable. She paid $4500.00. Of course she has less follow up because she won't need fills with the sleeve surgery. I look forward to going back to Ireland again.
