newskinnygal 51 Posted June 10, 2013 Hello all I'm invited to a BBQ where I will be approximately 5-5 1/2 weeks post op, I will be on the soft food stage...what can I expect to eat? No one knows I had surgery so I'm wondering if I should go or skip? My nutritionist said to follow a bland diet/low Fiber diet while on soft foods. I don't know of any BBQ foods that fit that category. Thank you in advance

There will be lots more BBQs over the summer that you'll be better able to deal with. If it is important to you, make some excuse why you can't eat. Tummy ache, toothache, just some kind of excuse to get you through it.
laralen02 38 Posted June 10, 2013 Have some baked Beans and a bit of potato salad. If you don't want people to know, put meat and whatever on your plate but don't eat it. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Thank you in advance well i would go (to spend time with family/friends) and there are some options you could eat (soft items) or you can bring your own OR you can eat before you go.....but def dont stress over it.....nothing wrong with BBQ's. just make good decisions. PS, i was post op on July 4th and just did what i had to do and realized, it is not about the food... 2 Terry Poperszky and txflea reacted to this
bindi 94 Posted June 10, 2013 Absolutely go! Life is to short to miss a time with family and friends. Eat the soft foods, your meal time will only be for a short time an the rest will be fun with your friends!! . jsws91 153 Posted June 10, 2013 we went to a party for my sons football team where everyone was eating pizza.. I helped serve the food, by the time we were done serving the kids no one noticed that I didn't eat any.. thank goodness.. I would say go and have fun and if there's anything you can eat a small bit, go ahead.. if not just socialize and have fun. :-) 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
honk 780 Posted June 10, 2013 You can bring your own pulled pork/chicken in BBQ Sauce. I don't like the I'm sick route. I would be like " then why are you here if you are contagious?". 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
