I am desperate! I was Sx 2004 from NWWLS and was down to a size 4 and kept that until 2011 when I moved full time to Florida to be with my now husband. He is an excellent chef and this is the south! I have learned to eat around the band and can't figure out how to eat right again. I need help!! Thanks to anyone!! Katie This was my awesome size 4 and then another 40 pounds heavier!post-211390-13813135103028_thumb.jpg post-215048-13813135103292_thumb.jpg

I'm a newbie to the band, but my guess is that you need to go back to basics...protein first, veggies then fruit. Chew forever and take at least 20 min to eat. Drink your Water and cut out sweets...and if you haven't seen your doc for a checkup/fill maybe its time to do that too?

You still look great...but I know that slippery slope of gaining! You can do it!

He can be an excellent chef, and still be onboard as to your dietary requirements!

If you're eating around the band, you know what you need to do. I suggest getting hubby on the same page to start with. Next, you have to determine if your current fill is in the green zone or not, and you have to take a good look at your diet--are you getting the proper amount of Proteins first? Avoiding wasted carbs (excess calories)? It is never too late to get back on track. Forget the past, and concentrate on what worked for you when you were losing those ugly pounds!!

labwalker and ana was dead on with what they wrote

eat what you like...but to gain, one must eat more calories than they burn off

3500 calories is a pound...better choices...fresh over processed, portions 3 oz vs 12 oz...you did it once, so make up your mind to do it again, then do it

What about a "band cation" for a few weeks and then start over... It's worked before Maybe it would work for you? Just means you let it all out and then basically start over. Idk just an idea

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
