LessLee 119 Posted June 8, 2013 Hello Everyone, I am in the Ottawa area. I heading to Toronto on June 21st for my surgery. I would love to connect with other Canadians, not matter where you are. Are there any support groups in Ottawa?
ginkybiloba 9 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi there, just wondering if you ever found a support group in Ottawa. I have decided to get the lap band done (should have done it 2 years ago when I first considered it and now I would be done!). I live in Ottawa and am planning to go to SWLC in Mississauga. Now that I've made my decision, I hope I can get it done soon. It sounds like you had a positive experience: congratulations on your weight loss so far! LessLee 119 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi! Nothing yet, but I am looking to set one up. Nice to meet you! Please keep in touch. I'd love to hear about your experience with SWLC. Do they have a fill clinic in Ottawa? I'd only heard of them after signing up with Slimband. Hi there, just wondering if you ever found a support group in Ottawa. The only thing I'm not super psyched about is the pre-op diet which is shakes. Blech. I have my phone consultation with the doctor tomorrow, and they are booking surgeries for late August/early September. I'm glad it will happen soon before I can chicken out and change my mind I got on the scale today which I've been avoiding and it's worse than I thought. I haven't weighed this much since I was pregnant with my son 9 years ago. Depressing.
LessLee 119 Posted August 14, 2013 Ah, 2 weeks of shakes only? I had to do a set plan that included lean Protein, basically low carb too. I hope you get your date soon! LessLee 119 Posted October 21, 2013 Hi! Did you have your surgery yet? I have heard Dr. C and his clinic are wonderful. I really would have liked to compare them to Slimband before I made my choice. RNJulie 0 Posted January 7, 2014 Hi, well I am on day 4 post op and "oh my god this hard" I can't wait for this clear Fluid period to be done but I guess recovering ok. I do have an extremely painful spot about 1 inch from my port site, knife like burning but not always there and they told me "oh yeah it's like a pulled muscle" well I'll tell you, I don't think they have ever pulled a muscle but this is way worse. hope it goes away soon. Ok I am now off my soap box. Thanks for replying feels good to hear from someone else out there. Julie
LessLee 119 Posted January 8, 2014 I am on the "band-wagon" Not sure if I am in the green zone, but I am doing fine where I am and happy to stay here. I am glad the holidays are over so I can get back to my healthy routines. As for staying warm..LOL these temperatures are crazy. I hear we are on par with Siberia and colder than the North Pole! Julie, I had that too. It does get better, but I remember it was so painful to move/get up and down. I believe it is because they stitched that port deep into the muscle (don't take my word for it)? By the 2nd week I felt much better and kept getting better and better each day. I did go through a sort of post-op depression and regret stage. I have read that is common with all your body has just gone through, so be ready for that if it comes, it will also pass quickly. I promise you will feel back to normal again soon! Soon, you can enjoy cream Soups, yogurt drinks and Protein drinks!
