Surgery on arms thursday

Recommended Posts

I am 12 years post op and 2 years after I had my son. I am finally getting an arm lift. Can anyone tell me really what the recovery is like. The doctor has me off work for three weeks. Will I be able to get out of bed or eat and what about showering.

I had an arm lift, with my tt, in December. I remember not really being able to do much of anything with my arms for at least a week - i needed help with most things. By the second week, I was able to use my arms to help me get out of bed (which was difficult as my stomach was also recovering). I don't remember much of the specific recovery after that, as I was more focused on the tt recovery. Overall, I don't remember the arm part being so bad. Hope this helped, even if it isn't much info. Good luck with your procedure.

Thank you! That helps me not be so scared. If you can get thru two at one time' date=' I can get thru one lol[/quote']

Yeah. And honestly, the first few days, you will probably be so out of it from pain medication that by the time you start needing your arms, most of the week has gone by...

Hi, I just found this site and wish I found it before I had my wings removed. Had them removed for a variety of reasons. I am thrilled with the end results. Now I would like my entire body redone. I wish I could accept my body for the way it looks, and not the way Madison Avenue glossies look of women.

I am on day 2 and the pain is pretty bad. But not tga worst pain I have ever felt. I am already happy with the results! My scars go all the way under my armpit. The doctor said we could stop at the top of go all the way. I was kind of borderline. But because some skin hangs over my bra I decided to go all the way with the tuck.

It's almost 24 hours out and there a quite a bit of swelling. But I can see a huge difference.

Hi, Thank you for posting the pics. I am 7 weeks out and not completely healed yet. I am healed about 95% from the surgery. I am also very happy I had the surgery. I accidentally burnt the wing on my arm while I was cooking. I wish I took before and after pictures. Please keep us posted.

I am having a breast lift and arm lift in 20 days! I am so excited. I will post before and after pictures. Any advice on preparing for the surgery? I see my doctor on the 9th for the pre-op appointment.

Hi, the best advice I can give you is to have at least 60 grams of Protein every day. When I do this my healing is quicker than when I don't. The reason I did not do it for one surgery - is I forgot. Once I increased my Protein, the healing went quickly.

Thanks or keeping us posted.

My sister had the lose skin removed after her gastric bypass and I/we were wondering is it anything that can be used to help with that giant horrible scar that is left after surgery. Any input will be appreciated. I may need to have excess skin removed but im so afraid because I don't want to be left with that huge scar.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
