I'm fairly new here and new to the WLS world. I am going to a info session on Wednesday. It will be my second one. I have decided on the Lapband. I am so worried that it will be the same as all of my other attempts at losing weight. I've tried multiple times to stick to a 1200 calorie diet but I get sooooooo hungry and eat more. I would love to know if you all feel deprived and starving all of the time.

Everyone that starts this journey has pretty much the same fear of failure. I have lost 42 lbs and I still have that same fear. You will do great! Just stick to your doctor's plan. Good Luck!

I never feel starved. I sometimes feel deprived but maybe only once a month when I see a particular pizza ad. We still have pizza a few times a year but not weekly like before. I can eat about anything I want but I don't. I'm satisfied with so much less food now. Deprivation and constant hunger are why diets don't work. This works for me. "Sometimes to get where you want to go, you have to do what you are afraid to do. You must be brave and push forward. Miracles occur when you give as much attention and energy to your dreams as you do to your fears".

I'm four month post-op and my band is adjusted perfectly now. I eat my recommended food allowance each meal and feel no hunger or cravings for at least four hours. There is nothing I can't eat, but I follow the rules well. I figure after going through the ordeal of surgery for weight loss, I'm not going to sabotage myself.

I have this worry as well, but I think the fact we know our past may help in this process. Best of luck to you!
