blondegal_ 1,028 Posted June 7, 2013 I started counting calories from the beginning to get in the habit of it. And you should exercise based on your doctor's instructions. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Melissa@gail 1 Posted June 7, 2013 Definitely am not ready to exercise yet. I definitely am sick of liquids. I am picky so this liquid thing has been a challenge. Down 12lbs so far 1 stept04 reacted to this
labwalker 1,177 Posted June 7, 2013 I count calories and Protein. Protein intake comes first... I use an online program to enter my meals and it tracks the nutrients. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and stept04 reacted to this
Melissa@gail 1 Posted June 7, 2013 What program do you use to keep track of calories and Protein?
Sharpie 3,306 Posted June 7, 2013 My Dr. said 6 weeks before exercise.. walking was fine early on but anything more he wanted me to heal before I started anything more strenuous...I also use myfitnesspal to track Protein, calories, etc. 3 flrosie, ☠carolinagirl☠ and stept04 reacted to this
flrosie 154 Posted June 7, 2013 My doc said six weeks, also. Walking every day from the beginning, but no strenuous exercise for six weeks. MyFitnessPal is a great program for tracking food intake and exercise but I know there are others out there that people like as well. It has been said over and over again and I agree: writing down every morsel you eat every day is the best food management tool you can use. Not only does it make you accountable, I believe it lessens the guilt from having so-called "forbidden" foods. No food item is verboten; quantity is key. 3 Terry Poperszky, ☠carolinagirl☠ and stept04 reacted to this
kate85 6 Posted June 9, 2013 I started walking 2 days after surgery but it was only half hour of slow walking. Now I am just over 4 weeks post op and I do 6km and it is 60min run and 90min walk. I can return to netball next week aswell.
kate85 6 Posted June 9, 2013 I also county calories with my fitness pal and I stay between 700 and 1200 calories per day
labwalker 1,177 Posted June 10, 2013 Walking is the best thing you can do after surgery, and it is a good exercise to keep weight off afterwards.
