I had my band put in May 28th. I already feel hungry. Sometimes I feel the restriction but I have already eaten things I def shouldn't. (3 potato chips 1time, potatoes, & a couple bites of hotdog) now I know I shouldn't be eating those bc right now I'm still on liquids only til Monday. But what really concerns me- is I ate those things with no problem. At all. And I don't feel full that fast anymore. Had about 1.5 c of Soup other day. Probably could've ate double that. :( when will the restriction kick in???

First, your problem isn't the fact you can eat those things, your problem is that you're seriously jeopardizing your band and health by cheating on your post op diet. Your stomach has been manipulated and stapled. It's now extremely injured and swollen. You're supposed to be on liquids to give it time to heal but instead throwing hot dogs and potatoes into it? Very, very unwise.

You need to go back to your post op diet, stick to it religiously, and tell your doctor what you've done to make sure you haven't done any damage.

And for the record- even when you do have adequate Fluid in your band you should be able to eat those things with no problem. The band isn't meant to physically stop you from eating anything, it's job is to control your hunger. Have a look at this link: http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html

Get back on your diet. Best wishes.

I'm healed and on regular foods. I'm waiting on my first fill, not satisfied with anything. Any tips Missy?

For me, I found concentrating on calories rather than 3 meals a day very helpful. I spread out my daily calories to allow me to eat every 2 hours. Before I had adequate Fluid in my band it was the only way I could lose without starving.

Pinkypunk9...I did the same thing. I was so hungry and I cheated a little here and there. Missy is right...stop, reverse...go back. It was hard for me too because I KNEW I could eat those things...add Protein Powder to your Soups to beef it up a little and hopefully get you feeling fuller...

Lapbandanna- glad to know I'm not alone :( It's hard to not eat just to eat. That's always been my biggest problem. Not eating bc I was hungry- but eating bc it looked good/smelled good/was out w friends or whatever other reason I had. Hunger was rarely ever the culprit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
