I was banded 5/21 and I know this is what's called bandster hell but come on! I'm hungry more than I should be even though I'm getting in all my Protein and eating that first in hopes to get full quicker. I don't have any Fluid in my band and my first fill is June 13th. I've already gave in and had some unhealthy Snacks here and there that I feel sooooo guilty for, not to mention got instant discomfort. I know it's more of a mental issue than physical hunger issue, ugh this is so hard. I hope after my first fill I will start to feel better. Thanks for listening.

I'm struggling the same as you. Banded May 24th, eating what I should be right now which is just starting soft foods but I struggle with hunger. I think it's probably 'head hunger' and eating just mushy food (now soft), but it is hard! My band is empty as well and is the 14 cc one. I haven't got an appt. yet for a fill. I wouldn't be able to get a fill for another 3 weeks. I am not sure what I should be feeling. After I eat I experience burping to some extent, a tight feeling in my throat and sometimes I sound like I am getting a cold when I talk which clears after about half an hour. Not sure if that means the cup of food is too much or if it is the way it is after eating for me. These feelings makes me think I shouldn't get a fill but then I am hungry! I'm glad to hear there is someone else feeling similar.

You're definitely not alone! I also get the burps and I know I over do it when I get instant reflux pains, very uncomfortable. I have a 10cc band - I started with 3cc at surgery but two days post op they had to remove the Fluid because I was dry heaving like crazy.

Sounds familiar. I originally had the 10 cc, did a lot of vomiting, they removed the Fluid, still the same, three days later they 'unhooked' it. Two months later they hooked it back up, same thing again, so the took me back in (same day) to have it removed and the 14 cc put in with no fluid.

I think we all struggled in the beginning. And it only stands to reason, we had the surgery because we need help. So at this point when it is just our own self discipline we rely on, it's gonna be hard and you will cheat here and there. I did! Big time. I just keep trying re-train my brain to think that stumbles will happen but if I get back on course the end result will be worth it. The band will help if you make sure to stay on course the majority of time and have just a few cheats here and there. I call that reality.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
