I'm one week post-op, I haven't had any caffeine since prior to my surgery. When is it okay to have caffeine again? I'm dying to have a couple sips of cuban coffee... I'm from Miami it's everywhere I turn!

I never had any restriction on caffeine.. just soda not coffee.. I know all Dr's are different but I drank coffee throughout my pre-op and post op diets.. I have my coffee In the morning with a little heavy cream... and truvia... Cuban coffee is really good... I told my Dr. that I didn't smoke, I don't drink and sex at my age ain't that great so I wasn't giving up my coffee... he laughed...

I did. not and will not ever give up my coffee. I could give up food believe it or not if I had a choice lol. I told my doctor and his nurse that my pre-op diet was doing fine but only because I refused to give up my coffee. Then his nurse jumped in and said you can have coffee but to limit it. I drink two cups a day with my measured out half and half and log it into my calorie count on my fitness pal. I've been drinking my coffee since Dec 14th and I'm down 47 lbs! I wish it were more but I'll take 47 lbs anyday!

Cuban coffee is like a super charged type of expresso coffee, delicious but it does have quite a bit if sugar so it looks like I won't be indulging in it for some time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
