What Not to Do!

Recommended Posts

37th wedding anniversary. Had 1,500 calories for just dinner! Oh well there is always tomorrow. I have lost 130 lbs since July 30, 2012, but today I splurged. I am only at 3.8 in 14 cc Realize band and have absolutely no restriction to date. I am going to get another fill next week, so hopefully I will be better off with being satisfied with smaller portions and wiser selections. On the plus side i ate a lot of Protein with dinner. Guess I will shoot for negative calories tomorrow.

Oh, heck! Everyone cheats! 1,500 calories for a high Protein meal shouldn't be a setback. It was a special occasion, just get back on track and you will be fine. I also don't have much restriction as to food or portion size; so I rely on eating a lot of protein and watching calories. 130 pounds in a year is awesome! I hope I can do as well!

Congratulations and happy anniversary! I would say 37 years and 130 lbs are cause to celebrate! Like Labwalker said, everyone splurges now and then, just not everday like a lot of us used to.

You've done fantastic, both on the weight loss and marriage fronts! Sounds like you are really living well with your band...not relying on an overly tight band for limiting your calories, but doing it yourself with a "little" help from this tool. Be proud of yourself!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
