Hello I've got a pain in my throat and it keeps coming up then going back down.. I haven't been sick or bought anything up but I've had it for a couple days now.. I'm a bit worried to what it could be??? It seems to have started after I ate some white bread I'm 13 days post op..( I realise I'm not supposed to have bread but I had a weak moment!! ) and I chewed and chewed till it turn soggy and mushy.. Any ideas to what this could be then please comment, thanks x

It's not the fact it was specifically bread, it's the fact I highly doubt you're supposed to have bread or anything more than maybe liquids or mushies at only 13 days post op.

Btw, chewing food to mush does not count. If it's not the consistency of baby food before it hits your mouth then it's not considered mushy food post diet acceptable.

Your stomach has been manipulated and sutured. It's wounded and needs time to heal. It's no wonder you're having this problem because you're not giving that swelling time to resolve itself.

Get back on your post op diet, follow it strictly, and tell your doctor exactly what you did and the result after. Let him make sure you didn't do any damage.

Best wishes.

Where in your throat? If it has anything to do with the band, it would happen around your sternum area and not your neck area?

bread would have disolved by now so you might want to call your doc?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
