PrettyThick1 1,860 Posted June 5, 2013 I have allergies and my sinuses are draining into my throat which causes me to cough like once or twice every couple of hours. Is it safe to have my surgery in 2 weeks?
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted June 5, 2013 Ask your surgeon. If he goes ahead, I recommend you hug a pillow when your cough as it may be painful at first. 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and PrettyThick1 reacted to this
Instyle98 240 Posted June 5, 2013 Probably, but the only one who can answer that question is your surgeon. I have allergies too and often suffer from post nasal drip and it wasn't a problem for me. 1 PrettyThick1 reacted to this
Kime-lou 648 Posted June 5, 2013 The doc is the only one for sure, but you should be fine. I have severe allergies and cough all the time, plus I have asthma. I was coughing in preop, but my lungs were clear so I was clear for surgery. Most of the time as long as you are not running a fever and your lungs are not congested they will go ahead with surgery. 1 PrettyThick1 reacted to this

GuyMontag 1,264 Posted June 5, 2013 Allergies are probably my number one complaint with the band. I'd recommend taking Zyrtec daily and keeping some saline solution spray with you at all times. It's helped me cut down on the coughing. Other than that, coughing won't really bother your band.
GetMyGrooveBack 21 Posted June 6, 2013 Call the doc.. If you cough to much after surgery, it could cause the band to slip, or even more swelling around the band that can cause issues.
