I deserve to be thin...

Recommended Posts

One of the head hunger issues that really haunts me is using food as a reward.

Yesterday, I planted my butt on a bicycle seat for almost 3.5 hours and burned 2200 calories and I finished up the day with over a 1000 calories that I didn't eat.

Once a week, I take my two girls for fresh donuts in the morning before I drop them off at school and this was the morning. As we approached the little voices in my head kept singing, you were good, you exercised, you deserve a donut over and over again. As my girls picked out their donuts I could literally taste them in my mind, but finally I stopped and said, NO, what I deserve is to be thin, turned and walked away with my daughters to pay for their donuts.

Today, YOU deserve to be thin, don't settle for anything less that what is rightfully yours.

Way to go! It is sometimes hard not to listen to those little demons in our heads, but what a great victory when we can shut them out.

There's a saying, nothing tastes as good as thin feels and it's true! Great NSV!

I try to picture that cake, cookie or bread just swelling up in my throat. It really helps take that desire away. I just smell it ,good enough for me.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
