I'm at the doctors right now waiting on my 3rd fill. I have yet to feel any restriction and iam the same exact weight as when I started. Maybe after today i will notice a difference. I've been so down on myself and feel like the band is not working for me. I have been eating like I should.. lacking on Water and exercise as of latley (because i feel discouraged). Any encouragemeent and advise is welcome.

I lost 12 the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 14 weeks. My 3rd fill gave me enough restriction to feel satisfied sooner/longer. I also was able to cut back on my calories due to the extra satiety. I kicked in my exercise program and lost 38 lbs over the next 5 months.

It will happen if you give it time and follow the rules. I read some of your other posts and you're going to have to get your caloric intake down to 1200 or less, and, you must exercise. Even at 1200 calories and no exercise you may only lose 1-2 lbs a month.

If you arent tracking your calories, you're probably taking in too many. Fat people don't have a good eye for eyeballing sizes and calorie content.

Don't be discouraged, took me 8 months to get restriction. I had my surgery on 9/10/12. Gained and lost 10 lbs off and on. I have a 14 cc realize band. I have 10.5 cc in my band.

Hi all..I am in sort of the same boat. I am on my third fill since being banded Sept 10/2012. At my first appt for a fill, found out my port had flipped. Most likely my own fault cause i felt well, so I acted like I was well. So actually had my first fill in Dec. Must have been too tight of I had something stuck cause I couldnt eat anything with out getting sick :( Had a little .5 decrease..and I wa able to eat my grandmother!! Go back in about March..have about 1.5 ccs added and I can feel it tight now. Can only eat little bits but I think its too tight. Nurse said that stress, allergies and other things can make the band act funny so I tried waiting it out. Some days I can eat about an ounce and not be sick..other days..a forkfull and im running. Thing is after getting sick..I can eat. I also have hunger pains I guess in my"old" tummy and when I try and eat..I fill up so fast and Im still having hunger pains...then the combo will make me sick. Im at my wits end cause I do not want to get a decrease. I have lost about 10 lbs in the last 3 months and I too am getting discourgaged. Any tips, suggestions?!?!?!

Don't take this the wrong way but you've hijacked this thread. That means that you injected your own topic within someone else's topic. No problem, we all goof around within a topic but you should start your own topic/thread in one of the forums.

I say this because if you ask questions about your own issues within a thread, only a handful of people will see it. If you post/start your own topic, hundreds will see it and respond. You'll get much more exposure this way.

What happens if you eat Soup? Do you fill up fast or can you eat a lot of Soup? I ask this so we can know that you are eating small and chewing big? If you're getting stuck on soup, you may be too tight? If Soups pass right through the band, and you can eat 8 ozs or more, you may not be chewing your food enough? We bandsters are stubborn about our old eating habits and it can take many of us months or years to re-educate ourselves to eat properly.

I am in the same boat! Banded in January and lost around 15lbs while healing. Then the weight loss pretty much stopped. I will be going for my third fill Monday, which will be the first time since surgery that I've seen my surgeon. I'm hoping he will get my band where it needs to be.

I've also been quite discouraged and have gotten into some bad habits as of late, including slacking on exercise and having too many liquid calories... Not good.

I think we need to track our calories in/out and talk with out doctors about band adjustment.

Stay positive! We can do this!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
