First Fill in a few hours

Recommended Posts

I am getting my first fill in a few hours. I'm a little nervous.

My surgery was just over a month ago on 5/1. I lost ~20 lbs since pre-op diet but I hovered around 281-283 for about two weeks. I ate crappy junk food this weekend since I'm moving and have no groceries so I'm afraid to get on the scale today. But -- the shame is motivating me to focus on ~500 calories per meal (if I'm doing 3 meals a day).

How did people's first fill go? Did you feel restricution right away?

I had band over bypass. Last night's meal was the first time I felt some restriction... I was uncomfortable for about an hour after my meal but I think that might be because i had some bread with my meal.

I have had 3 fills since 2/28/13. They are always easy for me. I am sure that you will do fine.

It went well for me- definitely more anxiety prior to going and having it done, but I felt nothing, no pain! I started to feel the restriction a couple hours later. So far so good! I had a fill of 4cc's.

Had my first fill of 1.6 cc last week and was nervous too. I was liquids for 3 days after that and now am pretty much eating meats and veggies. I eat a small plate and it fills me up. I only got 2.6 cc in my band to date as when he put in the band, he put in 1cc. Its not much restriction but I have to manage with what I have and watch what I eat constantly and make the good choices. You'll do fine. No pain as they "freeze" you. :)

My surgery was 2/4/13. I've had three fills to get to my green zone. (Totally painless BTW) I really don't have restriction, rather satiation for four or more hours, where I feel no hunger and really don't think about food. In four months, I'm down about 40 pounds.

Immediately after my first fill (4 days ago)my stomach was growling so loud that everyone could hear it around me. I have 2cc, I can't feel a difference BUT my stomach talks VERY loudly when it's hungry.

Green zone-just right not hungry, good weight loss, Portion Control, patient satisfaction. Yellow zone-need more Fluid hunger between meals, eating large portions, not losing weight Red zone-poor food choices, regurgitation, discomfort while eating, purr weight loss, night cough

Can-Do's experience with the green zone is about the same as mine. Everyone has a different experience and perspective. I've read some stories where a poster's green zone is having fills to the point where they physically can't eat beyond a point without becoming sick... others, like me, rely on a feeling of being full, and just stop eating at that point, even though we could eat more without any problems.

Had my fill... it was a little painful/discomforting. But overall, it was quick. I have another appointment in six weeks and he said I could move it up or out depending on how I feel...

I just had my first fill today, and I feel like I have a lyon inside! haha. It was super simple! not painfull at all, they only thing is I freaked out when the nurse asked me if I wanted to feel my port, I was avoiding to even know where it was after the surgery lol. They put 3cc already in the surgery, so today they put 0.5cc, total of 3.5cc. They said that it seems I'm doing ok, so they are trying to get more restricction over time. I think that's good for me, not going for a dramatic fill. My next one (if I need it) will be in 6 weeks :)

You say you were liquids for 3 days after your fill, is that normal or just what you could do? I go for my first fill June 13th and I was wondering if I would be able to eat right away or go back to the whole liquid diet again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
