Calories in the Green Zone?

Recommended Posts

Just out of total curiosity....for those of you in the Green Zone, how many calories do you average each day? I realize everyone is different. And I am mainly just curious to see what the average is.

Since Jan 14th I've tracked calories/exercise just to see, I was curious. I average around 1800 calories per day, and exercise an avg of 700 per day during that time.

Is these calories before or after exercise calories are deducted from it?

Based on food intake. I track using fitday.com.... kind of a vintage site, but I have been using it off and on for ten years or more.

Usually at 900-1100 before exercise. Usually don't eat extra calories if I exercise but sometimes I do have a snack of under 100 calories if I've had a good workout but food intake rarely exceeds 1200 calories. I feel I'm very close to green zone.

I have not counted calories or measured portions in over 2 years....

Being in the Green Zone means my portions are automatically set ...I Cannot overeat if I wanted to....and my hunger is totally under control, not between meals, but 24/7. The band is there 24/7, right? So is the signal sent to my brain...

So, seeing that I eat considerably less than what I used to, I just make it a habit to as healthy as I can...low fat, no junk, wholesome good foods...and get plenty of Water and pay particular attention to my Protein....I also quit Red meat for 2 years, thanks to the band....and if I forget to eat, which happens, like yesterday, then so be it...as long as I got my protein....

It has become a new lifestyle, without ever having to diet again in the traditional sense, and having no fear of gaining weight......everyday is just another day...

That's what being in the Green Zone, over time, will do.....

I was taking in bet 400 & 900 cal per day. Having alot of touble with many foods I moved to Protein shakes. I forget to eat and have to choose between drinking liquids and having a meal.

My family has said I should go have my band loosened but in the two years since getting my band i have only lost abt 30 lbs.

My body fights weight loss. I will tell you though I went from wearing a size 26 pants to a size 18. A size 4 x shirt to an xl so I am not unhappy. I dont understand but not unhappy.

My youngest son watches me like a hawk because of my forgetfulness of meals and my getting stuck at dinner. I have finally figured out that there are definately things I just cannot eat and have stopped trying.

I have a brother in law who got banded, list 170lbs but the band slipped n he had it removed back up to well over 350 again n fast. My sister still has hers but says it doesnt work. Eats what she wants and drinks alcohol so i am thinking the diet mentality they told me I need to lose is prob the reason i have lost what I have.

Now to figure out how to lose more.

Soontobe.... You really need to eat more. I believe with you eating that few calories each day, your metabolism has probably slowed down to nothing and your body is probably in starvation mode. I try to eat somewhere between 1100 and 1200 calories of healthy food a day. Every now and then, I will eat a little more especially when I hit a plateau and then I get right back to my 1100-1200 calories and it seems to kickstart loss again. When I do that, I keep a steady and consistent loss going. Also I am doing this for health not just to look good in a bathing suit, so nutrition is important. There is no way you can be getting everything you need nutritionally if you are eating so few calories. Eat more and exercise more. Good Luck!

Healthy and happy, i have given up looking good a long time ago. Lol. My hubby is a smoker, i need to stick around and in a healthy way for my kids.

I am trying to learn to eat more. I try to pick foods with lots of Protein. Today For example for bfast i had a Boost Protein shake ( i have never been a bfast eater so this is good), and a cup of coffee with milk n splenda. Mid morn snack i had a serving of chex mix and a sm can of Tomato juice, lunch I had a california roll (sushi) and a bottle of Water with sf hawaian punch in it. Afternoon snack i ha d 1/2 an apple. For dinner i made pulled pork, of course i cannot eat any breads so I had 1/4 cup meat with a 1/2 cup of broccoli slaw.

This is a ton of food for me. But i ate slowly to the point that there was not too much time that something was not going in . My liquids i must have 30 min ti 1hr after solids or i get sick.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
