Sounds like you are stuck and for me the only thing that works is time. Walking seems to help. If the food is lodged in your stomach, the acids will break it down in a few hours. If it's lodged in your esophogus it may take longer.

One time I was stuck so bad, I stood on my head and the liquids in my stomach must have pushed the food away from the stoma and then the food seemed to find it's way through at a different angle.

Some people recommend drinking carbonation so that the pouch expands and the food either is forced through the band or back up through your mouth. I tried it but it was very uncomfortable, so if you're sensitive to pressure or pain, maybe not a good idea? Some folks are in so much pain they go to the ER and have Fluid removed from their band so the chunk will pass.

What did you eat to get lodged?

Good luck.

You and me both! I've been in a huge amount of pain for the last two hours, and nothing's working except maybe the 6 baby aspirin I chewed a few minutes ago which has dulled (but not taken away) the pain. I'm close to crying!!!

I will have agree with 2much, one night I was stuck for 5.5 hrs with broccoli until someone on here told me to take a large sip of Sprite or carbonated drink and all of the sudden it came up, I puked it up, guess the bubbling dislodged it. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone. I think it was rice. It was the first time I had it and I don't even think it was a teaspoon full. I had hardly ate all day and took it in too fast. I know better!!

I went the the bathroom and coughed and coughed as hard as I could until something came up. I just got up a little stomach acid - but instant relief!!

Oh my goodness, rice got me not too long ago too!! It was the first time I really had it since surgery and whoa, I think I will pass on ever having it again! Eating slowly is STILL my hardest lesson to learn....and that rice sure tried to teach me a lesson. I had a TINY amount but it was too fast. Thankfully it wasn't stuck for long and came up quickly, but I have lost all desire to ever eat it again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
