I won't be much of a "competitor" but I've missed biking so much! I've got an infant that will be learning to love riding right along with me and a toddler on her hot wheel keeping pace. LOL... Baby seat is being put on today and tires pumped and I'm off for a ride tomorrow morning! It will be interesting to see how far I can go...

Well, that was 2 hours or pure hell. I had a headwind coming home, what took me 83 minutes this morning, took me over 100 minutes coming home and I don't think my legs have ever been this tired.

21.75 Miles, 1:42 minutes, 1100 calories.

Fabreze in your cubicle?

Cute, no. The facility where I work has a gym, with showers in the locker room.

No biking to work for me today, so I went for a little jaunt when I got home. Only problem, the Water bottle that I filled got left on the kitchen counter :-) But there was a drinking fountain at mile 10 and I had an empty bottle on the bike, so I wasn't hurting too badly.

23 Miles, 1:23 Minutes, 1100 Calories.

Wow, I'm thrilled to see this thread!! One of my NSV goals is to ride the Pinellas Trail in St Pete, FL - 38.2 miles. I've never been an avid biker but I enjoy it immensely. A couple of friends have hitched their star on my wagon and we started training just after Mother's Day, riding 5 miles/day, adding a mile each week. Doesn't sound like much when I see all the stats above but for us - none of us in great shape - it's a thrill. We'll be at 34 miles by the second week of January, then we'll hit the P-trail. Three days of the week we bike our miles, swim 45 minutes, then do aquarobics for an hour, all before 11 am. The other days, we hit the gym for strength training. I don't ever see a day when I will love doing the gym thing but training for this ride with my friends has made it a lot of fun.

I use AllSportsGPS for tracking my rides/progress and Pandora is a MUST for the ride! I finally figured out how to make my smart phone do both at the same time! :)

STOP THAT! No matter who you are, there is always someone better. I went to a race last year called "Tour of Utah" the course for the first day of six was 138 miles, with a 3,000 foot climb in 90+ degree desert heat, And that was their easiest day! Compared to them, I shouldn't even be allowed to own a bike. :D The only competition that is worthwhile is the one you have with yourself.

You are doing a great job, keep it up. Every time you get on that bike, you get off in better shape,

Thanks for the encouragement. I hadn't meant to sound like I was belittling our accomplishments, though I can see how it looks that way. Neither was I boasting about our workout schedule - just reporting. I have to remember I am among like-minded people when I post here and not subject to the scrutiny of ignorant people who don't understand the struggles of a fat girl and the joy in becoming "normal." Lesson learned!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
