I just got back off of vacation and on to my bike for the first time in a week. Felt soooo good!

I would invite you to log your miles for the month of June on this thread. This is not competition, but my personal goal is to do 10 more miles than what ever Catfish does which is going to be hard since he is a skinny little guy and doesn't have as much fat to lug around.

Starting it off with today's ride 20.09 Miles, 1:15 minutes, 953 Calories.

Ok, Who is next?

I can't compete for distance since my bike is more of a mtn bike and I do not ride the roads. I stick to only bike and walking trails of which there are hundreds of miles here in Denver.

Ride Time: 59:52

Stopped Time: 6:24 Stopped to check out a garage sale ^_^

Distance: 10.74 miles

Average: 10.76 mph My oh my was it windy here today.

Fastest Speed: 22.43 mph

Calories: 681

This topic literally brings tears to my eyes... honest...

My pride and joy, at least before my first car, was my Dunelt three speed English bike! Nothing special, but I still have the bike carefully stored away. I haven't been able to ride it in over forty years!! One of my goals is to have the bike gone over, and to be able to ride it once again. I know these bikes aren't rare or exotic, but it being to get back on it and to ride it once again would be a major, major step forward for my self esteem.

The only person you need to compete against is yourself :D And your bike would totally destroy me on a mountain trail! One of these days, I'm going to get a good mountain bike, but not until my wife forgets how much my road bike cost :o

You keep walking that lab, and using your band and you will get there sooner than you think.

Glad to see you are OK. RIght now, I am going for shorter rides (around 20 miles), I would really like to get an hour in the saddle 5 - 6 times a week, but life gets in the way.

I didn't personally have any damage, but it's pretty significant in the area....I was in the basement of a casino when the twisters came through. :)

Thats a great goal...5-6 times a week! Biking in April was good for me @ 475 miles/38 hours...May wasn't as good 341 miles/25 hours. But a couple of trips/vacation/etc and I burned some calories walking, and other activities during those trips.

June goal for me = avg 4 days per week cycling. with a target minimum of 476 miles ( 1 more mile than April )

I really wanna see the 199# by end of month....we shall see! :)

Sorry catfish about your neighborhood. When Sandy hit my area was devastated too. I did an unusual amount today. 39 min in spin and another 4.5 riding there and back. You guys are amazing can't do as much as you but it's me against me!!

Well, the bad news is Spin Class is on hold for me for at least a couple of weeks. The good news is that because Congress couldn't pull their heads out of their asses long enough to deal with the sequestration like adults, my wife has had to re-arrange her working schedule and with our girls out of school for the summer, I get to bike to work 3 times a week. :D

So this mornings jaunt:

21.72 Miles, 1:23 Minutes and 1078 Calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
