Has anyone heard from Missy? I have not seen her on in a few days and I know she was having some complications with Water retention. Does anybody know if she is OK? I am just concerned.

I was wondering the same thing. Usually, she is all over these forums, and I haven't seen her in a couple of days. I just looked at her profile, and she posted that she had blood clots in both legs, and is in the hospital. I hope she is okay - that is very scary stuff :(

Yes, the last we heard, she is in the hospital. Missy has not made it a secret that she has MS and between the TT, blood clots and MS, she needs all the prayers she can get.

Many here have PM her our personal get well wishes and I hope and pray we hear from her.

May we all stand together in prayer, for a speedy recovery!

Does anyone know how to get in touch with her?

I think if Missy was able to post a reply to her status she would, she might still be in hospital, or no access to a computer, she hasn't updated her status since May 28th and hasn't been online since May 30th. Hopefully she will let us know as soon as she can how she is doing. I know we all send her our prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Please update us on Missy when someone hears something. She has been such solid support for many of us on this forum. And let her know we are thinking about her.

Does anyone know her real name; IS it Missy? One (possible) way to find out what's going on, is to call her doctor, Zubin Bhesania.

There was another post between Mis and another poster who has the same doctor. That was a couple of weeks ago, and I don't remember who the poster was. Would be great if we could at least know that she's okay. Her original post on this came while she was in the hospital, so she probably used her phone. The fact that the posts stopped, scares me.

I'm praying for her too. So I think as soon as she is up to it she will post. She has been through a lot and hopefully she just needs some recuperation time.

Doctor patient confidentiality would be a reason her doctor wouldn't let us know how she is but I suppose we could all wish her well and hopefully someone who knows her personally will see these posts and pass the word to her.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
