To stay full longer, its all about Protein, protein, protein.

For fast easy meals, I go for things that are alreaedy prepared and I can just help myself to s serving.

I will make chili with ground turkey and after I nuke it, I'll add 1/4c ff plain greek yogurt to really boost the protein. It is super yummy. I also love Taco Soup, loaded with black Beans and again ground turkey, I also add the greek yogurt to that too.

My all time fave, I have an addiction too is ff plain greek yogurt, reduced fat Peanut Butter or PB2 (powdered pb) and splenda mixed together. Makes my mouth Water just typing this.

Notice my theme, FF Greek Yogurt, which I hated yogurt until I was banded. Key Lime with crushed pecans is really good too. Putting up ground turkey burgers, mixed with black beans, another good one. More protein please.

With the LB, its all about being prepared. If you can spend a weekend day preparing meals and freezing them, its easier to just grab a serving.

dawg said exactly what i was thinking, protein.....as i understand it, the band wont help me (not be hungry)...but it does help me not eat as much and also i found if i eat more filling foods (aka Protein and veggies) i am able to stay (full)....that being said....drink alot to combat head hunger (us just thinking we are hungry) and def get the mindset and stay busy.....on the weekends i prepare all my meals for the week ahead so i can grab and go and if i am hungry, they are in the fridge ready for me to take and eat.....hang in there...

I do this too......make a pot of chili, or gound turkey/beef cooked with refried and black beans. It's great - scoop out a portion, nuke it - good to go :-)

I make chicken salad a lot to keep on hand...equals quick and ready meals especially when portioned out onto 1/2 cup servings. And if you use Greek yogurt to replace half of the mayo its creamy and higher Protein.

I also bake homemade turkey meatballs using my mini muffin tin and then portion them into individual servings and freeze. Two minutes in the microwave and your set.

Protein rich Soups are good to. Homemade chicken tortilla or turkey chili works great. But so does campbells bean with bacon with added quinoa to boost protien and Fiber. Just make Soup according to package directions and then add 1/2 cup rinsed quinoa and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Top with low fat cheese.

I was banded the same day as you and i can't imagine having to worry about four small mouths and feeding myself also.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
