Endo at 1pm, Class at 6pm? Possible?

Well, I’m a bit upset with my surgeon - she now says she needs an endoscopy before she'll operate on me. And since surgery is 5/16, it has to be right away.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

So I’m scheduled to arrive at hospital at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:time Hour="13" Minute="0">1pm</st1:time>, for an endo procedure a bit later than that I assume. They didn’t give me the procedure time, just the hospital arrival time.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

And since this is last minute, I have already scheduled 3 days off to attend a sewing conference held here locally, and I have classes in the morning, afternoon and evening on Friday. So now I have to miss some of these classes, and I’m trying to figure out which ones.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I know I’ll miss the afternoon class, as it starts at <st1:time Hour="13" Minute="0">1pm</st1:time>, but I’m wondering about my class at <st1:time Hour="18" Minute="0">6pm</st1:time>.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Can anyone tell me if you had an endoscopy around 1pm or <st1:time Hour="14" Minute="0">2pm</st1:time> in the afternoon, how you felt by <st1:time Hour="18" Minute="0">6pm</st1:time>? Well enough to attend a class (my husband would drive me, I know I’m not supposed to drive). What about operating heavy machinery (sewing machine) - I’m assuming probably not?<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I'm thinking that I'd like to at least go to the class and take some notes, and not do any sewing (or have my husband do the sewing), so I at least get some info out of it.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Am I totally off base, and won't feel like doing anything at <st1:time Hour="18" Minute="0">6pm</st1:time> following an afternoon endoscopy??<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Thanks for your help!!<o:p></o:p>

I've had a couple of endoscopies. You might feel tired, but with your husband driving, you should be okay to attend classes that afternoon.

I had my endoscopy yesterday 5/1 at 10:30 was out by 12 and felt totally fine the rest of the day. I left hospital and went grocery shopping. Everyone is different I am sure. Good luck!!!!

I have had them and then gone back to work. Some have problems a day or two later when the barium wants to leave the body. Drink plenty of Water, let your husband drive, and you should be fine.

I had a pretty bad sore throat and of course, the medication takes alot out of you. Not sure I'd schedule anything. Can you make that decision after you see how you're feeling??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
