PhotoNut 7 Posted May 8, 2006 Tidge, from what I've read by those who have had infections around the port, if there is a infection, the incision scar becomes inflamed and opens up again. The infection isnt containted down under the skin out of sight.
Sunta 5 Posted May 8, 2006 I'm 11 weeks post-op, and my port is still getting sore (from time to time) from exercise, sleeping wrong, etc. It's not bad though, just a bit of little pinching pains and aching. Nothing I need painkiller for. I think it's totally normal and will go away completely in time.
momof2boys 0 Posted May 8, 2006 There is no way to know if the port is oozy once the scar has healed. The way you might know if you have an infection at your port is based on pain, inflammation at the area, redness on your skin surface. The only time you would spot oozing is if your scar was still in the healing process and you were experiencing oozing out of the scar. Hope that helps. NeenBand 7 Posted May 8, 2006 Hmmm I wonder if I have an infection.? I have a lot of port pain, but my scar is healed. I would think I'd have a fever??
momof2boys 0 Posted May 9, 2006 You would definitely have more than just port pain. So many things can cause port pain - like twisting, bending, stretching, and on and on it goes. Especially since we are all still in the healing phase.
