I hope this is not a too crazy question, is it normal to crave sweets???? I never ate a lot of sweets but since the band I do.

So please tell me that someone any one has this problem.... lol

No it's normal to crave! My doc says that if its really a craving a small taste will satisfy! After you take a bite walk away and forget about it!

I, unfortunately take meds that make me crave sweets and have a very difficult time with it. I love Walgreen's brand "Nice" sugar free hard fruit flavor candy and also crystal light sugar free hard fruit flavor candy but do indulge in skinny cow twice a week.

Plenty of sugar free sweets around both in shops and googled on the internet, I always suck sugar free ones when I am cycling, I think they do their job well, as if u try to eat to many u would start noticing the sugar substitutes more and then they don't taste as good .. sugar free gum is ok too.

That's how it was for me in the beginning...I would crave something, say a dough-nut, buy one, take one bite, and thanks to the band realize I really did not want it...it was just something in my head telling me I needed it....after about a year of this...throwing food away I thought I wanted but didn't, the cravings went away altogether....

I'm one of the lucky ones. Pre op I craved sweets all day long, but post op, I have no cravings. I hope & pray it stays that way!

They should offer a warning label on the band that warns about increased sweets craving. I never used to crave sweets like I do now. The largest drawback to the band in my opinion. Lol.

Actually, my sweet cravings have decreased and I actually crave savory or salty things now but have to watch because I retain Fluid. Before surgery I craved Good and Plenty licorice candy everyday. I have not had that craving at all post op. I also would crave chocolate and now I have not touched it because I have no craving for it.

I've always liked sweets and did not find the band increased that. What I have found, however, is that if I don't start on the sugar, the desire for it goes away. Post surgery I was weeks without sugar and didn't think about it. Now that I can have a small treat from time to time, I think about sugar. Which means I really have to cut it out altogether, because it "calls" to me and can hinder my weight loss efforts.

My cravings never went away. But as said try a small chocolate or whatever you crave and then get rid of the thing you had. Karen

When I crave something sweet I have either a chocolate Calcium chew or a mini Cliff mint chocolate Protein bar. Most of the time, I don't even have a full mini bar...just a bite is enough to satisfy me!

Sf choc pudding. With sf dairy topping. Or if its late I will brush my teeth to get that strong minty flavor that stops my cravings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
