Well the surgery went well. I'm at home now, I've been sleeping for an hour and then walking around and then I lay back down for an hour and so on . I had a small hernia that needed repairing, so my doc fixed that. So I guess I'm a little bit more sore than I would have been without the repair. I have pain in my left shoulder which I was prepared for and of course some gas. It did not seem to effect my appetite, I'm hungry, but all I can have is liquids, I do seem to get full faster even on the liquids. The pain does not seem to be to severe so that is good. I am tired though. So I just wanted to touch base with you all. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I'm going to go for now. Thanks for being there you all.

~~~Stephanie
Congratulations! I'm on post op day 4 :) I found getting up and down (bending) was the area which was painting me after the surgery. Also, I would completely recommend Gas-x! sleep propped up on pillows... I was really uncomfortable until I grabbed a pile to lay against :)
I was a bit hungry as well, I went 15 hours without anything before surgery so was hungry going in. The clear fluids go by quick... Full fluids are so much better lol.
I'm glad everything went so well for you!
Stephanie - congrats! I'm glad to hear that things went well :) Rest is the best thing right now; that, and walking to help the shoulder pain. Hopefully that won't stay with you for very long.
Keep us posted on your progression........welcome to the other side!!!
Steph, congrats... I'm happy it went so well! Today is going to be a long agonizing day for me... Besides thinking about surgery tomorrow, I also can not take my subutex which is very hard! I will be in a very grumpy mood lol but it will all be worth it! Keep in touch! And feel better!
      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
