I weighed 350lbs when I got my Lapband in 2010. I was 22 and had 2 children. I stopped trying shortly after dropping 50lbs.. And had 2 babies! I am now 25 years old with 4 kids and have recently started up again at 304lbs and am down to 279lbs but find myself going into my old habits! Maybe I really can't do this and am gonna be this big forever!

The only reason you can't do this is if you stop trying. You've got a very busy life with four young kids but they should be even more motivation for you to make the time to put your health first so you can be there for them in the long time.

Commit to yourself, commit to your family. You can do this.

This is a great time to teach them to eat right and not get into the same place. Get them involved in the shopping, preparing and cooking. Go to thrift stores for magizes and make an art project for all of you by cutting out pictures of good food then hand them all over the house. Eatting right is a family event work together you can do this

I was banded 10/11 and I have lost 32 pounds (as of today.my weight goes up an Down every week) lol. However I had to sit down an really be honest with what I was consuming. My husband chimed in too :) an we saw I was still grazing an taking g in too many sugary foods/liquids. For the past few weeks I've been losing much better

So maybe u need to do an honest self examination an calorie count an see if that helps.

Imho

Grace, imo, you should revisit your bariatrics doctor and sounds like you need some fills? Also, speaking to a nutritionist who understands the lapband can be incredibly helpful. The band is a tool and if it's not adjusted properly it's not going to work.

As far as old habits go, yes, we all have those demons and but they can be overcome. With a properly adjusted band, fighting those demons is so much easier. Otherwise, you're just on another diet and fighting on your own.

Thanks everyone! I talked to hubby about how I was feeling this morning and I was just upset bc I had a busy weekend made poor eating choices and miss my brother ( he's a marine and he's stationed away) and yesterday was a bad day with all the food and missing him. So when I stepped on the scale and gained 4 pounds this morning it hit me hard!

So today I'm gonna eat better, go to the gym and just get back on track!

Thank everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
