Yay!! Today I booked in for my LBS !! Tuesday June the 25th is my day!! And I'm incredibly excited about what is to come and nervous at the same time!!

For so many months I have gone back and forth with the decision as I felt as tho I should be able to do it naturally but came to the realisation that I needed help .. I also struggled with others opinions .. My partner is a personal trainer so although he supports me and wants me happy I think he'd rather I lose the weight band less.. I said "me too" lol but obviously that isn't working!!

Tipping the scales at 110kgs - my heaviest weight ever .. I decided jut this once I was going to do what I wanted to do, despite anyone else's options and that included his .. At the end of the day only I know me.. Only I know if this is right for me .. Only I know what it's like to live in my body etc ..

A lot of people I know think lap band is a shortcut , an easy way out :-/ .. I'm hoping to change their outlook on the band and to show them its just as much hard work as a diet, a new exercise regime etc .. And the way I see it .. Those who truly care and love me are just going to be happy to see me happy :) and anyone who ain't well .. "Ain't nobody got time for dat" :)

This is my first post of many!! I'm excited to meet you all and learn more about your journey :)

Xx

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
