mkilby001 0 Posted May 27, 2013 Did anyone have trouble with insurance paying for the actual surgery? I went through the whole ore-authorization process, went to the required doctors appointments, nutritionist, and psychological profiles. Insurance paid for all of that, so the doctors office calls me and tells me that my surgery was per-approved. I have my surgery on 3/27. The insurance pays for the doctors, but my actual surgery was not approved. As of today, my insurance has paid nothing on the actual surgery, saying it was ' not approved'. stept04 465 Posted May 27, 2013 That sounds weird, I guess you would have to talk to your insurance company. I did not think a hospital would allow a surgery without approval or a payment from you or something. Good luck ~~~Stephanie
line-dancer 810 Posted May 27, 2013 yes that does sound odd...call them and the hospital and check it all out maybe they are just slow at getting it done
Suzzie81498 78 Posted May 27, 2013 My insurance covered the doc very well, and my appointments very well. BUT- the surgery center where he practices is not part of "blue distinction" for Anthem- so they only paid 60/40. My surgery ended up costing me $5500 out of pocket- which wasnt shared with me until I got my bill in the mail! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
