So this coming August I will have had my lap band for a year, and I've literally made no progress. I lost about 30lbs. initially and have put it all back on. I will be seeing a lot of family that I haven't seen since last summer and I look exactly the same. I'm so embarrassed. But, I recently got back on this forum and started reading all the posts and I've been newly inspired to get going again. I'm so glad this forum is here and I know I have support from so many people! Thanks!

Erin,

You have made progress, not giving up is progress. You haven't given up on yourself or the band.

When was the last time you saw your doctor? Had a fill? What are you eating? How much? Do you exercise? I could go on but I bet you have already started answering these questions.

You can do this. Keep coming here for support. You will find a lot of support, information and friends on this site.

Best wishes to you.

Do you think you know now why you hit a wall? I'm just getting banded on Tuesday and just thought maybe I could learn something. Good thing you haven't given up. Good luck.

It's been a long time since I've seen my surgeon. My surgeon is in NJ but I go to college in VA. And my surgeon only has fill appointments on Thursdays, which makes it really difficult to see him during the school year. I know I'm not eating the way I should on the band, nor am I exercising enough. I don't know why I fell of the wagon for so long. Thank you for the encouragement! I really appreciate it! I'm going to get back in the swing of things.

I think when I got the band I didn't prepare enough mentally. I was all ready to exercise and get moving but I didn't tackle my unhealthy relationship with food. I would probably say that food is an addiction for me and I should have handled that before I got surgery. I know what I have to do, it's just been hard for me to motivate my self to do it.

Thank you for the luck!

Good luck with your surgery! I hope it goes well!

I imagine being away from your Dr and being in college, where everyone else is partying and eating what they want, must be very difficult.

You know what you gotta do and we're right behind you.

CG is right, you are not defined by your weight. Its whats in your heart. They will love you for you, not what you look like. If they don't, they're not worth your time anyways.

You can do this!

You have a band, give it a chance to help you. I know it's not easy getting in to see youor surgeon - maybe find out if he can recommend one closer to you? When you have the right restriction, it can help with youor food addictions.

I can tell you now that I struggle with the temptation of food everyday when my band isn't filled to the right level. When it is, I don't feel as tempted by food so losing is easier. Feeling full for longer helps you say no to food.

And if you put exercise on top on that? Girl, you're set for success!

So try try try to get in for a fill!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
