I am having a difficult time eating now that I am pregnant. Everything looks, smells, and tastes gross.

What are some suggestions?

Talk with your Dr or Nut. and see what they say. Really don't know what your nutritional values shoukd be right now, but they should know.

Have you had your band unfilled? I had mine unfilled and this did wonders for my appitite. Especially since I could easily eat a wider variety of food, like rice that is sometimes good when you don't feel like eating anything. A lot of people seem to be really worried about gaining weight, but I have been eating what seems appetizing to me for the last several weeks and haven't even gained a whole pound yet. So, don't be overly worried about that!

I did have an unfill. I'm scheduled to see a nutritionist next week. I think the nausea and gas just make it hard to eat anything.

I just want to make sure I eat healthy.

I have not gained anything. I lost 10 pounds so far due to the illness and lack of good intake.

The first six months if my pregnancy were like that. But come seventh month I did fine. Intact I gained 100 pounds. Ouch!

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! Having that feeling in the first few months is normal. The first 14 weeks were the worst, and now I eat anything I get my hands on LOL (within reason). Talk to your dr and see about Zofran or some other kind of anti nausea pill. They work wonders. Make sure to get your Water in! Especially being pregnant in the summer. Its super easy to dehydrate

Thank you! It's getting better. Those pills sucked. They just caused constipation... No fun there. Now I eat a few more foods than before. I'm still picky and not gaining any weight... Dr doesn't seem worried yet. I'm being seen by high risk Dr's so I just go with what they say. After this nutrition panel I'll know what else I need to do.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
