Banded Thursday and I have questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a bit and now that I'm banded I thought I'd join.

I'm feeling upset because I'm not able to get in my Protein or Water. I'm scared to over do it. Also, BMs are very loose. Is all this normal? I'm just not sure. Please help.

Sounds normal. One tip on Protein and fluids is to spread it all across the whole day. At the top of each hour drink 2-3 ounces of protein. Then at each 15 minute period later, drink hydrating Fluid 2-3 ounces. Then repeat. You will get plenty of protein and liquids on this plan.

Thank you Chez! I think I was trying to fit in one 11 oz shake in 30 minutes but your way sounds much more manageable.

Unfortunately right now I only have Muscle Milk which has 20 g of Protein which I know is not enough. However if I can get through a carton of that it'll be more than what I had yesterday. Thank you again.

I was just banded wed and today was the first day I was able to finish my Protein shake... what I did was purchase unflavored protein and I make my own shakes because the store bought are just to thick and sweet for me... I also add the protein to my broth, and light yogurt.. hope this helps...

Thanks for your advice everyone. Today I woke up feeling better but I've been pretty emotional these past few days.

I bought the Total Lean shakes from GNC and so far it's going down well. Much yummier than Muscle Milk. I also bought whey Protein Shots at Walmart which are 3.8 ounces. I got the fruit punch flavor which has 42 g of Protein. I wasn't able to finish even 1/3 and that was after I mixed it with juice and Water.

It's a learning curve that's for sure. You guys are so positive and supporting and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I didn't realize how much words on a screen could help me. Thank you again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
