I've was just told I have gastroparesis

Recommended Posts

This really sucks, I was just diagnosed with gastroparesis. They put me on Regalan but I am still throwing up after every meal, and I cannot eat much to begin with. I have lost 13 lbs this month alone. Im so upset. Anyone else have this problem?

I just had to look it up. What caused it? What were/are your symptoms?

ok, I looked it up. Sounds like the your doctors-f**ked up. My opinion. But knocking Lap Band is still wrong. My cousin had by-pass over 25 years ago and the doctor screwed up and no one was on her side but everyone knew that doctor slipped with the knife. Her daughter, a RN, had the same surgery. That did not stop her. Except she is fat again because she eats and drinks, wine, a cocktail when out and large portions. Her fault, no one else. Things happen. My husband always says, doctors practice medicine. Well they practiced and did something wrong, it seems. Sorry to hear that.

For over a month now I could not keep anything down, it is different than being stuck. I was throwing everything up. Lost 14 lbs in 1 month. Had sever stomach cramps too.

Thank you, Im a definetly not knocking the lap band. I did a lot of research, and unfortunatly this does happen sometimes to lap band patients. nothing to do with the doctor, just an unfortunate side effedect but I didnt see anything in my post about knocking it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
