Hello, new here! I was banded on Monday 5 days ago. I watched YouTube videos of post op patients and they all seemed so ok and no pain and that the surg was no big deal. So I went in thinking that, but I had so much gas pain in shoulders and neck up to the jaw. My doc didn't say I could take gas x but finally I had to take some when i was on day 4 and oh what a relief after that the following day. I guess everyone recipes from surgery differently, so just remember that to all the new patients after being banded. I would say that today is the first day I feel my closest to feeling back to the normal me.

Hello Shellbelly,

I also have watched the u-tube videos of the lap band surgery before and after. I still have no surgery date, as I am waiting on approval from insurance.

I just finished up my surgery and I'm sitting in the hospital room trying to eat my "diet" 2 ounces of Water 2 ounces of Jell-O 2 ounces of broth and 1 ounce of apple juice and I can barely get through that I have no desire to eat anything. I'm very sore and my throat hurts from the tube but other than that I'm walking fine used the restroom and should be going home soon.

I also was banded on 5/24 I'm sore also but all is well good luck to u

Hi everyone, I am going to get my surgery on 6/14 and well, I'm scared. Perhaps just because I'm a wuss and hate pain. I have two young girls and of course you know I'm thinking I'm gonna drop dead on the table. My surgery is on a Friday; do you think it's realistic to be back at work (desk job) on that following Monday? I am really nevous; any suggestions/advice would really be wonderful.... thanks!

I have a desk job and went back to work after 4 days. Looking back, I should have taken two weeks off. I really wasn't 100% until about two weeks post-op.

Even though I started feeling better, I should have taken it easy and not rushed things.

The hardest part for me was that the incision where my port was inserted hurt pretty bad when I sat for extended periods of time.

My surgeon says two weeks and it was 2.5 before i went back and i have a desk job. The first week i was so exhausted. I slept tons and was adjusting to the post op diet. By the start of week two i felt like i could have gone back, and by day 14 i was antsy at the forced time off. Long story short, listen to your body. Don't go back until your ready to. This is still a major surgery and you need time to heal.

@dreukeepr

I thought the same thing but ended up taking off all week. I think you will need to give yourself time to heal and you will still be exhausted from the surgery and meds

Congrats on your surgery! I was banded on 5/24 and the pain was awful but I have pushed through by walking every hour and the gas is almost gone. For my very sore throat, I drank green tea w/lemon and sucked on peppermints. I will say this, though, my tummy is growling like no other! Lol I have lost 10 pounds since Friday so I will be determined to stick with the meal plan.< /p>

Well this is great advice. I am still scared shitless. lol I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 16 month. They are great little girls. I am married, so thankfully hubs can help, but he doesn't drive. That is going to pose a problem perhaps. I didn't want to wait to schedule the procedure so it's during a week where I'm taking off two days already for real estate courses..... oh well it is going to be what it is. I'll take a few more days just to be safe. I am not the best when it comes to pain. hehe... thanks everyone!

Sexton, please don't let fear stop you! I was banded April 17, and had umbilical hernia surgery at the same time. There really wasn't much pain from the band, most of mine was from the hernia. I have several friends who have been banded, and not a single one regrets getting the band. We all think we made a great decision to be banded! Whatever your fears are, whatever your worries, ask questions! My guess, though, is that you have night before jitters. Really, it will be okay!

I was where you are now a month ago. The week before surgery I was thinking about moving the date. I'm very glad I didn't. I was banded on may 7th. Second day was the worst by far and it wasn't tht bad compared to what this tool will help me achieve. Good luck and please let us know how you are doing :)

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
