I need someone to tell me

Two things I would like to add.

Rule#1- As we all already know- you must eat to lose. Keeping your metablism working all day long helps to burn calories.

Rule#2- step away from the stuffed olives. They are so loaded with salt its incredible. (they are my downfall also) So that one pd you speak of could so easily be Water weight. If you gained 4 or more I would worry but all bandster go & down. Its normal.

Mel Anne -- if you feel like the burgers, fish etc are more than you can do right now (physically or psychologically) give yourself a break. Use the Protein Shakes etc. Protein will help you LOOSE weight! It is better for you and will get your metabolism going. Drink the Water, eat the protein....if your body doesn't get a certain amount of both, your weight loss will actually be SLOWER, and you will not be healthy. Not eating is not the answer. You are doing GREAT and you just need a little more patience.........hang in there!

MelAnne i am like you i cut back on food when i don't lose but i use the scale to movate me. If i'm the same then keep working hard to keep it that way. If gained a lb then cut back on what i eat. I was banded in Feb. and only have lost 20 and work out hard walk 5 miles and work with weights 3 days a wk. So be happy 19 lb. but i understand it is hard not to see the scale move in the direction down.

Hugs, Mel Anne!

Just remember, you have had a lifetime of bad eating habits. They are well ingrained...

Even after a surgery, you don't just wake up one morning with new, good habits.

You are going to make mistakes during this process of re-learning how to eat. Plan on it. Pounds will be lost with the occassional gain.

Take a deep breath and keep on learning.

Good Luck! You will be ok. I promise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
