18 pounds in 3 months sound like a good rate for success!

Are you sure you're band is empty?i thought mine was until i got stuck the first time and then my surgeon told me that there was 3cc in my 10cc band. I now have 5cc and not a lot of consistent restriction.

But you're weight loss is great considering the average is 1-2 lbs a week. I've only lost 4 lbs since my March surgery.

Is there a reason you haven't gotten a fill yet?

What does your surgeon say?

I haven't gotten a fill yet because I was having such a rough time eating anything they did an upper gi and said it looks like there may be air in my band so I started chewing my food really good and was able to eat solids for a while now its back again with all the pain like everything gets stuck but mashed potatoes and oatmeal and grits

Those are high carb and low Protein. You might try foods like yogurt, and soft, flaky fish as substitutes when the band is too restrictive.

I don't think the band can change size. What happens is your stomach swells/unswells.

I really don't know as I have no medical training other than first aid. But I think it is just part of the natural cycle of the stomach. I know in the mornings I can't eat much but in the evenings it is a lot better. I have read on here a number of times that the stomach swells on most people at night when they lay down. I have no idea if it is a Fluid retention thing or what. Sorry.....

It is not something "I" would necessarily worry about but you should tell your doc regardless if you are having problems.

By the way 18 pounds is pretty good!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
