mypnut 3 Posted May 23, 2013 My surgery is June 21st. I have about 2 weeks till my liquid preop diet starts and right now all I can do is eat. I feel like i am having all my last meals. Did anyone else go through this? I am worried I won't be successful with the band. I have never been able to diet. I have never lost weight only gained. 1 brianb reacted to this
patsy1947 42 Posted May 23, 2013 i did the same thing as soon as i found out my insurance was going to cover the lab band i started eating and gaining more weight. then i sat down and said i m spending time and money i have to do something. so i bought some replace ment Protein power and said one meal a day i am going to eat healthy. so when i get up i have a Protein Shake and a banana, and i noticed it kept me full for a long time.. i got a bag and starting throwing un healthy stuff in to it and sent it to my sons house. out of sight out of mind (almost). i try to lay off carbs and sweets.. which is hard l love my carbs.. its only been a few days but i know its helping some.. i m afraid when its time for my pre diet i won t be able to do it so this is like a practice.. my first doctor appointment is june 12 do don't know when i will have the lab band done yet but soon i hope since i dont have to have the 6 month diet thing first. try doing what i did and good luck.. your not alone
sp70 193 Posted May 23, 2013 I didn't find out about my liquid diet until the day before I had to start it. So it didn't really give me time to think about it and plan any "last meals". This is a lifetime change and some of us have some head work to do. Today was my first day post op that I had head hunger really bad! I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op and too far in to quit now! It's not easy, but you can do it! 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and 2muchfun reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted May 23, 2013 I totally stink at diets....that was why I was referred for surgery....to correct my eating habits... Pre-surgery, I was told that I would need to loose a certain amount of weight within that 2 week period, in order to carry out the surgery on the scheduled day...otherwise it will be re-scheduled. I was NOT told to go on a full liquid diet, I was simply told to loose X # of lbs..... having said that, the most efficient and quickest method to loose the weight was to go to liquids.....but in my case, I was keeping my eye on the scale first, then on what I was eating.... I jumped through too many hoops, the waiting, the anxiety, and most of all the opportunity to be a normal weight once and for all, to let 2 weeks get in my way.....I would have gone all Water and Vitamins for 2 weeks if that was what was required...this surgery was, AND STILL IS...that important and life changing for me...my last chance, my last resort.... I still have that energy today when I exercise, like a person obsessed....no going back for me...the day I quit is the day I remain horizontal and room temperature... 2 weeks? What is 2 weeks in a lifetime??? But everyone needs to follow THEIR Dr.'s instructions....NOT what people on the Internet tell you.... 2 angelize and m1aman reacted to this

My surgery has not been scheduled yet but I am hoping for June. I just met with the nutritionist. And I am freaking out about not being able to do the diet. I don't want to fail. And I think it hit me more because she told me how they submitted the request for the surgery to my insurance company. I am so nervous
