PureGamble 46 Posted May 23, 2013 Anyone else have issues with periodically getting left shoulder pain? I've read in some cases this is common. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? I'm yet to use pain killers and would like to keep it that way.
Kime-lou 648 Posted May 23, 2013 This is a very common occurance with any abdominal surgery. I had that pain with both my gallblader and my lapband. My mom had it with her hiatal hernia repair. It can range from mild discomfort to pain that feels like a heart attack. It is caused by the large amount of gas pumped into your body for them to safely operate. I had my hubs run my shoulder which helped also placing a warm towel over it eased the pain. This pain can also stem from mild dehydration. When my mom's pain didn't easy in 3 days post op, we called the doc and took her in- she was dehydrated. After a litter of fluids her pain went away. So, if the pain has not dulled by tomorrow give the doctor a call.
sp70 193 Posted May 23, 2013 place a heating pad on the shoulder area and walk, walk, walk to help your body get rid of it. Best wishes!
