I started the mushy food stage - how many calories should I take in

Recommended Posts

I don't want to over do this, so I want to make sure I stay in the right range.

They did not tell me about calories to start off with, just to measure 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of food and no more, not to expand my pouch. Geez, I really wish all the doctors were on the same page so that we weren't so confused all the time....I really hate that. I'm kinda lost where it comes to mushy foods except for scrambled eggs and fully absorbed oatmeal, and creamed soups...can we basically eat anything at this stage but blended up in the blender?? what are you planning on starting on as mushy if you dont' mind sharing cause I just don't know what is considered mushy anymore.

At this point I don't think you should worry about calorie counts. Let your band lead the way. Eat the small meals that the doctor and nutrtionist told you to. Once you are fully healed, then start worrying about calorie counts.

I was never given a number to follow, only a portion size. When I hit a plateau and took my doc a list of what my calorie in's and outs were she told me to eat more- that I was having to much of a deficit for to long. So I upped it a little. Once you are healed you can begin the fine tuning of your journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
