Get thee to your band doc. Port infections are not funny. Do you have pus or oozing? Is it hot to the touch? If so, don't waste another minute. It isn't normal to have an infected port. And it isn't good. Can you post a pic?

Please see your band Dr. right away, he needs to look at it to determin if it is a port infection. This is something NOT to pass even if it looks like something small. Take Care of yourself and let us know.

Okay, I found your other thread with the pic and replied. You may want to put this same info...6wks post-op...etc on the other thread so others will know. Someone will fix that pic for you soon, I'm sure. See you over there. Call your doc!

heya.. and congrats on your band.. I think it is normal..But like on this site I think you will find everyone goes thru so many different things. It is normal to feel like you are on a roller coaster. Your life is changing so you are gonna feel it. I feel like that alot .. my moods change day by day. I realized how much food affected my life and trying new ways to keep myself occupied. Hang in there !!!

I think my post op nurse described it best. You are undergoing the stress of surgery and recovery and while we are at it we are taking away your comfort (FOOD!). I just got my band on 4/25 and I feel a lot of weepy lately. It seems like I cry at happy endings and sappy commercials. Another one of my friends who had a bypass several months ago told me I am in my mourning period. I am mourning the loss of my food!!!

Deb

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
