itsthatonechick 4 Posted May 23, 2013 Hello! I was banded 5/14 and wondering if there's anyone in the area, or heck.. Even in Illinois in general that wanted a new band buddy!! It would be nice to be able to talk to someone who can relate to your situation! I am close to St. Louis but I've posted in the Missouri forum and it doesn't seem like there's a lot of traffic! catfish87 3,471 Posted May 23, 2013 It'll be 4 years in September. I had an issue early on, that was corrected by my surgeon. Never had any "band" issues. Today, I'm loving my band....its doing exactly what I was told it would do...NOW with proper adjustment/restriction. But for me, it took a good deal of time to get to this point. Partly my fault...partly not.
itsthatonechick 4 Posted May 23, 2013 That's great!! I'm down 27ish lbs so far... So I'm very excited about that! I'm so excited for the opportunity I've been given with this lap band!
catfish87 3,471 Posted May 23, 2013 You're off to a great start! Congrats! As you can tolerate, start moving....walking, etc. You just have to find something you enjoy. Now that the weather is nice here, it's much easier to get outside and move. Maybe we'll cross paths (literally). I'm on the MCT trails quite often, usually starting at the CARD office. Cycling is my exercise of choice. The follow ups with your doc are such an important part of this. Not sure who your surgeon is? Hopefully, you have a good one who will do your followup fills/adjustments using fluoro, like mine.
catfish87 3,471 Posted May 23, 2013 If you went to St Alexius, theres a support meeting at the DoubleTree tomorrow evening at 6pm. Every 2nd and 4th thursday. Even if you went elsewhere for your surgery, I think it's open to all WLS patients.
