Hello all, a few weeks ago I had to go in for a second surgery because I had "kink tubing". A week following the surgery I went in for my follow up; there I learned I also had a seroma and my port had dislocated *yikes*. My surgeon moved my port to a new location on my stomach and told me I shouldn't have any other issues.

Dealing with this complication has me somewhat concerned. I am wondering if anyone else has had complications with their ports or if you have suffered from a seroma. If so, could you please tell me how you dealt with the complication and if the seroma came back. Right now I feel fine; just a little tender at my incision site.

I am also concerned that my lifestyle will suffer becaues I will always be in fear of a port dislocation or something coming undone in my body. The past several nights I've been up in the middle of the night crying and worrying that something else will go wrong with my bad. Can any of you give me some tips as to what I should, or should not do in order to protect my port and band. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I was banded 12/3 and 7wks post op they realized I had a kink in my tubing. I had revision surgery 2/8. I did notice my incision this time around took longer to heal and I thought it was a Lil more painful. I looked at it as my body just had 2 major surgeries so it was expected. I was super paranoid after my second surgery and still am very cautious with certain exercises. I am 5mnths post op from first surgery and 58lbs down. All good now and I wish you the best of luck.

Krzy4vt, thank you so much for your response. I feel a lot better! I did notice that it seems that this time around it is taking me a little longer to heal; I also have a physical job which may also be slowing down my healing time (lots of lifting and bending). After your revision did your doctor or PA advise you about anything that you need to avoid as not to disturb the port and or cause another issue with your tubing. My doctor told me that it is a rare complication that he does not see too often and said that I shouldn't have anything else to worry about (but I'm a worry wort lol). Congradulations on your weight loss. I was banded 3/13/13 and the last time I weighed I was down 37lbs.

Congrats on your weight loss! :) My surgeon never gave direct instructions on anything in particular. However I did take it upon myself to take it easy and allow myself time to heal. That's exactly what i did even when I felt better I didnt lift my daughter, no core exercises, and no lifting over 10lbs. I was super paranoid with my port and my surgeon said less than 2% have this complication. What are the odds again right? LOL! I am still a little leery on exercises that pertain to my core area but slowly starting to do just a little at a time. My kink came from scar tissue not forming quick enough to keep up with the drastic weight loss in the beginning so it shifted my port just enough to kink the tubing.Take time to heal and you will be good as new. I was upset with the 2nd surgery and started to doubt my decision but now I realize it was a bump in the road and I am back on track. Keep up all the good work!

You and I are a lot alike. Like you, after the revision I began to doubt my decision to have the surgery. While I was on the way to get my third fill today I told my mother that I wish I'd never done it. After I left today I did feel a lot better; the doctor was very reassuring so I've relaxed...a little. Unfortunately with my job I have to do a lot of lifting and stooping during the day ( I work with kids) but I have been trying to watch how I lift and how much I bend over. I just came back from my third fill and I lost another few pounds, so now I've lost 42lbs total (happy dance). Turns out I had another seroma which they drained after they did my fill. They drained so much Fluid he said it would fill half a coke can (yuck!). My fill was super easy and I was in and out in no time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
