Up to you and you alone. I know it's hard when family gets their opinions involved, but what do YOU want?

What are their concerns? Do they think you are just being vain? Do they know the complications that can arise from having the apron of stomach skin?

Maybe they just need more info. But it is your choice. Best of luck!

I don't understand what the family is concerned about either. I think it would help you to feel better....go for it.

What do you mean "approved" for plastic surgery. Did your insurance approve it?

I too, trust God and like I told my daughter when she decided to sell her house. " If its meant to be, it will be done with no real effort from you". Her house was sold to the first person who walked into it. She found the house of her dreams totally by accident.

Its between you and God, not your family members.

I pray God will make it totally obvious on what you should do.

Love ya sista!

I also had an extensive abdominoplasty and Tummy Tuck, it was something I wanted to do for me, I truly believe its not vanity to want to feel normal again, after all what vain person wants scars on their bodies :)

Do what you feel is right for you, and thank the family for their input but its you that has to live in your skin and not them.

You have worked so hard to get where you are today, if this is your reward then I say go for it. After all if you weren't meant to have it, would you have got approval :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
