3months banded no weight loss?

Recommended Posts

So I was banded on feb 15 and have had 2 fills one was 4cc the sec was 2cc. Im due for my 3rd fill on june 1st. I have lost nothing but have maintained my weight. I did not loose anything post op because I only had a one day liquid diet. Any advice? Fyi... I've been tracking and following all rules except I could exersice more and drink more Water. I'm starting to think this won't work for me! Diascouraged

Get your next fill. Lower your calories (I aim for 1000), exercise more, drink more.

You could be off to a slow start. But getting discouraged won't help, because that can lead to giving up. So even though it's hard, try to avoid that. Just put your energy into working it.

The liquid diet definitely HELPS with Pre-op and post-op weight loss. but the band deals with restriction and until you start feeling that restriction you'll need to deal with all the other issues...Head hunger, exercise,etc....

Eating with the Lap-Band

The biggest change will be in the size of your meals and the new eating behaviors you will have to adopt. The Lap-Band will help control how much food you can eat, but it will be up to you to make healthy food choices.

The LAP-BAND® procedure works best with solid foods to decrease hunger. Solid foods stay in the stomach pouch longer, so you should feel full after eating only a few ounces of food.

In order for your body to remain healthy and function properly, it will be important to choose foods are high in Protein and nutritional content. Your diet will ideally include:

  • low-fat Proteins (select meats, fish, skinless poultry, eggs)
  • fruits and vegetables
  • healthy breads and cereals
  • dairy products (good source of Calcium, but choose non-fat or low-fat)
  • heart-healthy fats

Your doctor will work with you in developing a new diet plan. Some of the important guidelines for eating with the LAP-BAND® are:

  • Eat only three small meals a day - this is all you need. Do not snack between meals.
  • Eat only solid foods at mealtime - this is how the LAP-BAND® works to restrict food.
  • Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly, about 15-20 times a bite, until it reaches a liquid consistency - this will help to create the feeling of fullness and make it less likely for food to get stuck in the LAP-BAND® pouch.
  • Stop eating when you feel full - eating too much can result in pain, nausea and vomiting. It can also stretch the LAP-BAND® pouch.
  • Choose healthy foods - make sure you are getting enough Protein and nutrients.
  • Do not drink while you eat - this will wash down the food and you will not reach the feeling of fullness, defeating the purpose of the LAP-BAND®. Do not drink for 30 to 45 minutes before or after meals.

I agree with dropping the calories, but keep the Protein where it should be. Exercising does work. I think at 1400 calories I would probably be maintaining instead of losing. I do under 1000 calories a day, but try to keep the protein at 80 to 90 grams.

Yeah, I probably should've added that, they're right. Keep Protein where it needs to be. That should be your #1! :)

I do best at 800 cals to a max of 1200 so track you food and do all of the above...and it you don't loss in a month talk to doctor about it.

Your taking in to many calories. Stick to no more than 1200. But under 1000 if u can. Start to keep a diary if u can. The diary is helping me it may help u as well. Also, I think if u are male your calorie count may be a little higher. I have been banded for just about a week but everything that has been said by other lap banders is very helpful and true.

Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
