hypnosis and head hunger

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever used hypnosis to deal with the head hunger issues? Just wondering if it would be helpful.

I can't see why not. It won't hurt the band. I think that is a lot of what hypnosis helps with. If you really believe in it I would give it a try and see what happens. Go for it. Good luck, and tell us what happens. I'd be curious to know myself.

I have used several CD for this. A good one that deals with all issues of loosing weight is Think Yourself Thin. It comes with a book that talks about weight loss and has all the scrips from the CD in writing so to reinforce the learning. I used these before I even had the band and I did learn to leave food on my plate and to relax during eating. Another workbook and tape is Body Esteem . It is a work book that helps you deal with the emotions and looking at your past to see how your food issues started, I'm working with my therapist with this book. I can't find my CDs anymore.

I did hypnosis with a therapist twice and it helped only for a couple of months (I lost like 8 pounds, that was it). I was so desperate to loose weight that hypnosis was one of the last things I did before the band. It didn't work for me because I'm more physical that mentally, and when I felt physical hunger I ate, and I ate a lot! It's hard to mix things and let your mind overcome your body. I don't think it's totally a waste of money, but is not for everyone for sure.

I've never been hypnotized, but i thought that the subliminal aspect of maybe putting the portion sizes in my subconscious would help me to not overeat. And would maybe help me to say no to the things i know i shouldn't be eating but which i sometimes find going in my mouth.
