Hi I'm on day 14 post op and there is just a faint tenderness enough to remind me I had surgery. I'm able to sleep on both sides' date=' stomach and back had my C-Section 18 months ago so It does get better.[/quote']

I had a c-section six years before my band. Not sure if it had to do with my level of pain or not. I also had my gallbladder removed about ten years before my band surgery. I actually think having those 2 stomach surgeries prior helped me prepare for the pain of my banding. I don't recall it being very painful, but I certainly did live on liquid vicodin for about a week. Hehe. Not sure if it was for pain or fun. (Or both?) I was pretty clouded. ^_^

I can say that a year later my port is tender still from time to time. Usually only if I've done something really strenuous.

Don't worry though, if you're in pain now, it will all go away soon. :) Chin up!

The first 48hrs is the worst. Every day after that gets better and better.I did think that the port was going to stay tender for as long as I was banded, was very bummed. It took the full 6wks for the tenderness to go away. Thanks to great friends here, they kept me reassured.

I had my surgery yesterday and where they put my port is very painful. I've had 2 c sections and its just as painful. Is that normal?

It's very normal to have pain at the site of your port. I noticed after my surgery that I could not lay on the side that my port was located. Today is actually my 6month Surgiversary, and I can do squats, situps, you name it,I can do it. So take one day at a time, and enjoy the journey.

Hi Laurie I had my surgery on Monday 5/20 and I am not very sore where the port is but it looks a little swollen. I am going through a phase now wondering if made the right decision as to getting banded. I do have back pain though.

Hi Laurie! I was banded Monday and the only pain I have is in the port area. Very sore. But better than yesterday.

I had surgery Tuesday. Was sore yesterday, but today it seems to be much more gas pressure than soreness. Should I hold off on switching to milk based Protein supplement, and just stay with the Water based? Will that help with the gas pressure?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
