Another N.S.V.!

Recommended Posts

This is kind of a weird one, but I realized this morning that I really am getting thinner!!

I have a medicine cabinet in the bathroom with three mirrored doors. This morning I found that I can see my entire body in the middle door. I've NEVER been able to do that! And not only can I do it while standing sideways, but also straight on!

I also recently discovered a box of last winter's sweaters that was hiding in a back hallway. I was thrilled because I'm getting sick of the same old stuff and winter continues to drag on here (32 degrees this morning!). But they're ALL too big! Even the ones that were too small last winter and were put away for "someday." They're hanging off me!!

This is soooo cool! ;)

Hi, Alexandra,

What a great feeling! I can feel your joy! What fun! Congratulations!!!! (I'm looking forward to the day I notice a visible difference, too.) Need clothes on the way down? One lady I spoke to said she had good luck finding clothes at a consignment shop while she was losing weight. Now that she is at her goal, she admits to being a clothes horse. Go, girl! Of course, if you're like me, you saved all of your favorite clothes on the way up, but it has been so long for me that they are probably way out of fashion. It'll be fun going through them, though. My goal is to be able to wear a particular (tiny) suit jacket - vintage - that I saved from my mother. Very pretty - charcoal, shawl collar, braided trim. I have a photo of her wearing it and holding me in her arms on my Christening day.

Waiting patiently for first fill day - April 8 - and trying to eat sensibly, meaning lots of Protein, and keep to the rules so that I don't have to completely re-train myself when I'm finally feeling restricted. Not too easy since I'm hungrier as the day goes on.

Again, congratulations. You must feel great!

AWESOME!

It's funny...I am noticing myself thinning out, even when the scale doesn't move......

Weird huh?

Whooo hooo!! Congrats, girl! Our bodies are working even when the scale isn't moving....

Now you can experience the frustration of having waited too long to try on something old, and finding that you are now too small, and missed your window of opportunity of wearing that item again. Ah, the lovely, welcome frustration of it all!!!

;)

Thanks for all the cheers, people!

I've also recently noticed hard places on my body that have never been evident before. I think they're called "bones." ;) Like collarbones! And knees! Cool!!

It's definitely true that the changes continue even if the scale doesn't move for a while. That's why it's so important for our sanity to take a step away from the numbers if we tend to obsess. I weigh myself every day and I admit to feeling a twinge of disappointment when on the 14th or the 21st day there's still no change. But I know this will all take lots and lots of time, and there's no point in making myself miserable during the journey. It's happening in tiny ways every day, and I'm loving it!!

Congratulations Alexandria! That is awesome. Losing weight is a wonderful thing but being able to really tell it yourself is a real morale booster. Keep up the good work. You deserve all the NSVs possible!

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for sharing... I think we should all take the time to think more about these types of successes. I am one of those that tends to obsess over the scale. It can really control my day, even when I limit myself to weighing only 1x per week.

Thanks to you, I think I will take some time today to think about my other successes and focus on those for a bit.

Congratulations,

*my rings that were once to tight (not even wearing ANY of them pre-op) are now spinning on my fingers!!!

*my bmi has gone from 51.7 Super Morbidly obese to 40.6 almost just 'obese'

*my double chin is SHRINKING!!! when i smile it doesnt look my face is gonna EXPLODE!!!!

*I also feet and am just starting to see my neckbones!

Great job!!! I love NSV's as much as scale drops! (which since this last fill it is doing!!!)

what a great moment, love when that happens Alexandra! I had one too the other day - I took out this extra tight lycra sports top to wear in the gym under my teeshirt (mostly to help prevent black eyes;) !!!) - it was super tight, and I always wore it under things to pull me in if I was going out etc - well, shock, horror - it was too loose! It just hung on me like a tee shirt - I couldn't believe it - it meant more to me than seeing the scale move to under -50lbs (my first mini goal) - it seemed REAL , if you know what I mean!

lovin those N.S.V.'s - would love to hear more from anyone else out there.............

Does this mean you have black eyes, now? Or did you skip your workout to be safe? ;) lol

Congrats, Bright!!! It's not often that something made of lycra ever just hangs! I am so proud of you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
