nikkidcas 18 Posted May 16, 2013 I'm 6 days postop, I had lap band with plication. So I'm basically still on a full liquid diet. I know I have not been drinking enough Water postop and therefore am very tired. So I'm sitting here sipping water and I'm feeling so full. Is there such a thing as drinking too much water at one sitting? And can water stretch anything? I don't want to hurt anything. I'm trying to be careful not to drink until 45 minutes after I have eaten. Any advice would be great.
2muchfun 8,927 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) No, Water isn't going to stretch anything. If you're still taking pain meds, they can cause your lower stomach sphincter(Pyloric) to close. I know it did for me. Then fluids and food stay in your stomach causing a bloated feeling. If you aren't taking meds any longer, you could have a lot of swelling that is delaying Water to flow through. I might add that pain meds seem to shut down the digestive system for some patients not necessarily just the sphincter. tmf Edited May 16, 2013 by 2muchfun 3 nikkidcas, ☠carolinagirl☠ and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted May 16, 2013 i also have the plication and asked my dr that very question and he told me that liquid goes right through (think of a funnel he told me) because of the insides being swollen, little amounts make you feel (full) the plication helps me feel that way right now when i eat..
