Okay, so today was day one of the fourteen day diet. I made it through the morning and the entire afternoon, with no problems and I made it through grocery shopping with some support....then came dinner. How am I going to do this with four teenagers and a husband that is skinny as a rail and they all eat what they want...right in front of me?! I ate two pieces of pizza...the whole time I'm telling myself, you really want this surgery, you need this, stop it...kept on going. I'm apparently going to have to lock myself in the attic when I get home or move out for the next 13 days. I'm going to bed, tomorrow is a new day and I'm banning anyone from having pizza in the house. Any ideas for ways to fight the food monster are greatly appreciated.

Have your shake before you cook for your family. It helps if you are not starving. You will have many meals with them in your future, it's only 14 days...

Good luck! You can do it!

Well, I hope you can get the support from your family. I told mine they buy there own junk and eat it else where...hide the things I like and a few things not allowed in the house like pizza. Maybe they would go out for dinner if that is in your buget. Clean the kitchen out of foods you cant have and you will have fun learning how to fix meals the family likes but with fewer cals that you can have also. This is going to be hard they have to help you.

Someone once said you have to want this to happen. It is very hard work. We have all been there. About 2 weeks after the band I took my mentally challenged brother out for a steak dinner for his birthday and had a tea. I wanted it to work. Tomorrow is a new day and start over. Maybe someone else can cook or help you cook. The person who said have a shake before their dinner will help and hopefully make you feel full.

Good luck.

I don't really have any advice other than for me it was 100 percent mental determination. You only messed up one day. Get back on the wagon and stay there. Trust me, the pre diet is to help you mentally get ready for the post op diet. BTW, are you liquids only on your pre op diet? I was lucky enough to have high Protein low carb.

I know it's tough. During my pre-op there were two birthday parties, a family gathering dinner at my sons school (3 course meal) and several regular dinners at home. It doesn't end with the pre-op either. Post-op when I'm on purée (right now), there have been 2 more bday parties (third on Friday) and my sons football team had a final practice dinner at my favorite pizza place. On all occasions I drank Water. It was hard, but I wanted the surgery a lot more than I wanted pizza or birthday cake. I heard about people who cheated on pre-op diet and their liver didn't shrink and the doc stopped surgery and they woke up in recovery without a band. That scared the heck out of me. I'm not trying to sound perfect, because I'm not. At one point there was leftover pizza in the fridge, I ripped off all of the roping and was ready to shove them in my mouth and realized how bad I looked sneaking pizza toppings in the middle of the night! Lol I know it's hard! Try your best to stick to it! YOU deserve it!! A couple times when I felt very tempted to cheat I would go for a walk, go outside do yard work. If they were eating one of my fav dinners I would go in the garage and start cleaning stuff up/going through stuff. Good luck!!!

I was on liquids only as well. It's tough, but you can do it. My son asked me if he could say things like " this solid food sure is good" because he wanted to stay out of trouble. I told him if he teased me like that I would make him go on a liquid diet with me! Hang in there, tomorrow's a new day!

I had a similar issue. I had 4 weeks of liquid diet. I found that it helped me to have my family's meals planned ahead of time, so I knew what was going to happen. I drank my shake before preparing their dinner and I sucked on a sugar free mint while fixing and serving their food. It was terrible for the first few days, then it was no big deal. Hang in there.

I know this sounds bad but I didn't cook for awhile. I was way to fragile in the beginning. pizza is my favorite so it wasn't allowed in the house. The kids were fed nightly, they either had a fin for yourself nite or dad cooked. It is really hard but I promise it gets better!!!

Together can you look to make healthier meals and share cooking together? Set a meal plan at the beginning of the week to allow the shopping and people take turns to cook. Proviso is they can pick the meal, it just needs to contain lean Protein and vegetables. Make it like a competition to see each week who's meal was the best? No doubt everyone's health and nutrition may increase, key thing for you to watch in addition is Portion Control.< /p>

The pre op diet is important and tough.. But, even after the surgery life will go on... My husband needs to gain weight and he eats all kinds of crap.. donuts, ice cream, fried foods, etc. I can't remove all foods from my house .. also we have birthdays , anniversary, holiday parties and life goes on.. As someone says you have to Woman Up... I never thought I would be able to stay focused and determined enough to make it through the pre op diet but, I also wanted this surgery to be successful so I did what I had to do. Staying busy does help and keep telling yourself that it will be worth it... It has been worth it, I have lost almost 40 lbs since Jan 15th.. I feel great, energy to burn and I am actually going ot the gym.. never thought that would happen ... Keep your eye on the prize.. Take Care

well, it was a battle for me also on that pre op

i NEVER thought i would survive...but my want power kicked in....i never knew i had it...i wanted this surgery sooo bad (not just to lose weight) but to be able to push my granddaughter around the block in her stroller..that was my aim--my goal.....and then the day my ole man told me to woman up on my pre op when i was whining.. he said you wanted this (surgery) so do what you have to do in order to have it done..and something clicked..

yeah its hard, its downright tough and its gonna get harder in some parts--but you will survive

so you ate....so what....cant change that now.

follow your dr's instructions from here on out

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
