No longer a lapband patient

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 weeks post op, my posts probably don't matter anymore. I've been through hell and back these past three weeks. I had the band revised, then developed an infection and two days later was back on the operating table having the band removed and a drain tube and feeding tube. I could have died which is so freaky! Those are both out now and I'm feeling better. I'm going to miss seeing my dr. I might meet up with the nutritionist and i want to keep in touch with my surgeon. He said that if later down the road I find that I can't lose weight on my own that I'm still a good candidate for other weightloss surgery. But going through all of what I have been through, I really want to do it on my own. I have a question though, it's about my heart rate. I can see it in my neck all the time, is it because I'm still only 3 weeks out and because of the trauma I've been through? My dr said it was down, but it's scary that I can see it. It's ok when I'm sleeping, but the moment I get up it starts up again and stays like that until I go to bed, I know I should've asked my dr about it, but I forgot. If its still like this on the 30th I will ask my primary care dr because I see her that day for a 6 month check up.

Sorry you had to go through this

How long did you have the band for ?

And what did you revised to?

How awful! I hope you are feeling better soon. Are you still on antibiotics? Are you running fevers? Are you dehydrated? If you still have an active infection and/or fevers that will increase your heartrate, so will dehydration. If you are concerned I would give the doctors office a call sooner rather than later, especially after what you've already gone through! At least talk to his nurse. Good luck!
